How to read this comparison
These are historical overall grades, not new 2026 inspection judgements. They do not establish catchment eligibility, available places, teaching quality today or suitability for a particular child.
Eligibility, ordering and limitations
At least five schools with a usable recorded overall grade.
The ordering uses the 95% Wilson lower bound for the share of schools recorded as Good or Outstanding. This reduces the advantage of a very small all-positive sample. It is a conservative comparison statistic, not a school quality score or a prediction. The published percentage and sample size remain visible.
The adjusted column is the lower-bound statistic used for ordering. It is not a revised inspection grade. Percentages are rounded for display; ordering uses the underlying precision. Schools without a usable historical grade do not contribute.

Why can a town with a lower percentage appear above another town?
Because the number of rated schools matters. A high percentage across many schools provides a different statistical basis from the same percentage across five. The comparison adjusts for that difference; it still cannot say which individual school is right for a child.
