Compare towns by recorded EPC ratings

MHCLG domestic EPC register August 2026 · 3,115 eligible towns

How to read this comparison

This describes recorded properties, not every home in a town. The mix of newer homes and properties sold or let can affect the result. A high share does not establish lower actual energy bills.

Eligibility, ordering and limitations

At least 250 mapped domestic properties with a usable latest certificate in the source window.

The controlled dataset keeps the latest certificate per UPRN, or normalised address where unavailable, within its documented ten-year window. We order the share rated A, B or C at published precision, keeping tied ranks. The 250-property threshold is a practical rule, not proof the sample represents all homes.

National positions are retained when you search or filter. Equal underlying values share the same position, so ranks can repeat and skip. Display values are rounded; the ordering uses the stored precision.

Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government · MHCLG domestic EPC register August 2026. Source details

Does a town with higher EPC ratings mean a particular home is cheaper to run?

No. The certificate for the actual property, its size and construction, your heating choices and energy prices all matter. A town figure is useful context, not a running-cost estimate. Check the individual home’s certificate and recommendations.
