Compare towns by mapped Flood Zone 3 coverage

See towns grouped by the share of their land area in Flood Zone 3. These are coverage bands, not a safest-to-riskiest league table.

Flood Map for Planning Flood Zones, revision 20 May 2026 · 6,807 eligible towns

How to read this comparison

Zero mapped coverage does not mean flood-free. This measure is about land area, not the percentage of homes at risk, and does not include surface-water flooding.

Eligibility, ordering and limitations

A published controlled Flood Map for Planning result for the town.

Flood Zone 3 includes land with a 1% or greater annual river-flood probability or a 0.5% or greater annual sea-flood probability, ignoring the presence of defences. The mapped overlap with the town boundary is grouped into four bands. Towns are listed alphabetically within the selected band, with no ordinal ranks.

Can I use this to judge a particular property’s flood risk?

No. A town can contain low-lying land and higher ground, and surface-water flooding is a separate risk. Use the town guide as context, then check the exact address using the Environment Agency flood-risk service and professional advice.
